Kit can be assembled in either a folded configuration for transport, or an unfolded ready-to-fire configuration.

 

During 1931, the Swedish company Boffors carried out the design and tests of a 40 mm rapid-firing anti-aircraft gun, reaching a rate of 120 shots per minute by the end of this year.

In 1934 the Dutch Navy bought the first units for one of its cruisers.

The British Army tested the first units of this weapon in 1937 and bought the license for its serial production. It was used both as an anti-aircraft gun and as a surface, naval and land gun.

It was used by various armies, although its notoriety was reached in WWII with the British and American armies, the Chrysler company in th States also manufactured this weapon in large quantities during the war.
