The Universal carrier, also known as the “Bren” carrier, was a tracked light armored personnel carrier for the British and Commonwealth Army during WWII. On its front it was armed with a Bren machine gun, hence its nickname.

This vehicle was based on the Carden-Lloyd light tank from the 1920s and its production began in 1934, reaching a total production of more than 90,000 units between the factories of Great Britain, Canada, Australia and even New Zealand.

It was used on all war theaters especially in France as well as in North Africa where the Germans captured a good number and used them in their army.

It was also used, among other functions, as a light artillery tractor.
