The M3 GMC (Gun Motor Carriage) was a US Army tank destroyer equipped with a 75mm M1897A4 gun on an M3 half-track chassis it was also known as the T12.

First appearing in the Philippines in 1941-42, they were also used in the North African campaign where they excelled at the Battle of El Guettar destroying 30 German tanks (including a couple of Tiger tanks). Some M3 GMC participated in the Husky operation (invasion of Sicily), although they began to be replaced by the M10 tank destroyer. Then they were converted back into M3 troop carriers in a number of about 1600.

They also participated in different campaigns in the Pacific theater of operations.

It was used by both the American Army and the British and Commonwealth armies.
