Armoured SdKfz 9 with Flak 88

The Schwerer Zugkraftwagen 18 t or SdKfz 9, also known as "FAMO", was the heaviest half-track vehicle used by the Wehrmacht. It was originally designed as a heavy artillery tractor, but saw many more uses during WWII

Its design was started in 1936 by the Fahrzeug und Motoren-Werke GmbH company from designs of the Military Automobile Department (Waffenprüfämte 6) from 1933. After several prototypes, final development began mass production in 1939.

Powered by a Maybach HL 98 V12 gasoline engine that provided 200 hp.

It was used on all fronts of war in several types of uses.

This kits shows an aromoured versión that mounts a flak 88 gun on its modified bed that was used as anti-tank system in the Italy campaing.
