The T-26 was the most successful Soviet tank of the 1930s and the early period of World War II. One of his most outstanding performances was in the Spanish Civil War, where it was the basic element of the republican armed forces. It  also was used by the nationalists forces when they were captured, as the T-26 was far superior to the German and Italian tanks used by the Nationalists.

11,000 units were built and, in addition to the Spanish Civil War, they participated in the Russo-Finnish Winter War and in World War II they participated in the Soviet invasion of Poland, in the sieges of Moscow and Leningrad and even in the Caucasus.

Its design was based on the British Vickers 6-ton light tank and mounted different turret designs, among which the turret that mounted a 45 mm M1932 anti-tank gun stood out.
