BA is the acronym for Bronirovaniy Avtomobil (armored vehicle).

Originally the BA-6 was mounted on the Ford Timken truck chassis, for which the USSR had a license, although the main number of units were mounted on the GAZ AAA truck chassis.

It was a 6x4 wheeled armored vehicle that mounted the characteristic turret of the T-26 light tank.

His first war actions took place in the Spanish civil war (where he served in both armies) and later he was used by the red army in WWII
